We practice law in the areas of tax and estate planning, corporations, partnerships, and trusts for individuals and owner-managed businesses. We have been planning and implementing legal transactions since 1986, and have been engaged primarily in tax and estate planning and implementation work since 1991.
Tax and Estate Planning
A major part of our work involves current planning for effective and tax efficient structures and long term planning for retirement and sale or transition to the next generation.
We also document the legal transactions required for implementation of tax and estate plans formulated by ourselves or by other professionals. This often entails creation of a new corporation, partnership, trust, or contractual relationship, and/or reorganization of existing structures.
If an accountant is not comfortable with tax planning, we can review a client's affairs and suggest planning opportunities. If a tax accountant develops a plan, we can support them by providing advice on legal issues, and by implementing the plan or supervising its implementation.
If a financial planner does not have tax expertise in house, we can review a financial plan for tax issues. We can also provide legal implementation of a financial plan. In addition, we can provide a planner with a variety of tools to integrate into the services offered to clients.
If a lawyer's client wishes to take steps that could have tax consequences, we can review the proposed transactions and provide suggestions. If we or another professional prepares a tax plan, we can work with the client's lawyer to implement the plan.
